FORT LAUDERDALE, FL
Before or after your cruise, you can discover all that the Fort Lauderdale area has to offer. Capture the sights of the Everglades, an expanse of swampland known for natural beauty and abundant wildlife, including exotic birds, fish and the infamous alligators. Experience the local beaches and cafes, including the Arts & Sciences District; stroll the historic Riverwalk; and shop the boutiques on Las Olas Boulevard. Board a double-decker yacht or paddle-wheeler-style boat and journey down the New River, out into the Intracoastal Waterway to Port Everglades, checking out the luxury houses and more.
PHILIPSBURG, ST. MAARTEN
The capital of the Dutch side of St. Maarten is the town of Philipsburg, though St. Maarten is an island with two distinct sides. To the north is the French side, whose capital is Marigot, while Philipsburg sits on the southern part of the island. You’ll quickly be charmed by all sides of the island. Of course, this Caribbean island is best known for its beaches, like Maho Beach or Great Bay Beach, one of the area’s best snorkeling spots. Sample local seafood or rum during your time in port, which have become symbols of St. Maarten life. There’s just enough to fill the day here, especially if you hop between the French and Dutch beaches.
BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS
Basseterre, St. Kitts’ bustling capital city, is an intriguing mix of whimsically colorful Caribbean architecture and stately Georgian buildings that date back to the 18th century. The island may be small, but it offers plenty to see. Explore lush rainforest dominated by towering volcanoes, or unwind on long, sandy beaches. Admire the vibrant coral reefs and green, rolling countryside. Visit Brimstone Hill Fortress, one of the most impressive military structures you’ll see on a Caribbean cruise. There are also grand old country estates to explore, and a vintage railway to carry you through verdant landscapes and along the surf-pounded coastline.
